Mostly Meishan Pork – By the Cut

Are you looking for a variety of cuts in smaller quantities? You’re in the right place! Choose your favourite Mostly Meishan Pork cuts. Each cut is cryovaced in plastic for long-term storage and frozen. Each cut is available by the package. Fill out the ORDER FORM, and we will contact you to review your order.

Meishan pork offers a fantastic flavour with earthy undertones of outdoor-raised, heritage pork but with a medium fat content. Our pigs are raised on the prairies of Alberta in the great outdoors. Our Meishans are grown out for a minimum of thirteen months. They have access to forage and dirt to root and bask in the sunlight. They are fed a custom feed designed for the Meishan breed; our feed is always soy-free and sourced with local grains.

  Our pigs are processed at a local, provincially (Alberta) inspected abattoir. In doing so, we can offer you the best cuts and custom choices of Mostly Meishan pork.

Why do we call it “Mostly Mieshan”? Because we believe in transparency, and our goal is to educate and increase the number of heritage breeds that are struggling. There are currently no 100% purebred Meishan breeding herds in Canada. Our Meishans are a fairly good representation of the breed but aren’t purebreds.

How do the animals live?

Hogs & Horns Homestead raises all of our animals’ hormone and is steroid-free. In doing so, we can raise them in an outdoor pasture setting, which allows them to live a stress-free life with plenty of exercise, fresh air, sunshine, and the ability to forage.

What’s The Major Difference In Taste & Quality Of Our Meat?

Our Swine’s Diet

They are provided access to Alberta’s natural weeds, grasses, and foliage.  Fed a custom soy-free complete feed. They receive high-quality supplements, ground grains and daily access to pasture.
